From 1993: an actual promo piece! This illustration ran in the second (tabloid-size) edition of the small-press Satin Steele #1 that I self-published in 1995. The first edition was digest-sized and ran 24 pages; when issue #2 came out at 32 pages, I decided a) to increase the page count of #1 to 32 as well to keep the series consistent and b) to increase the size of the comic from digest (5 1/2" by 8 1/2" inches) to tabloid (8 1/2" by 11" inches) size. This drawing, as well as illustrations of Leenah of the Lions, Starburst and Muscle Girl (as examples of other characters and projects I was developing) helped fill the new pages in #1.

I added some text to the drawing that reads like this: "'Tetsuko' is my homage to Japanese manga. A bizarre lab incident caused her to be injected with an experimental, unperfected anti-aging serum which caused her to gain super-human strength. Now, she's the target of several private and government entities which want either her services, the secret of her strength, or her death! (All she wants to do is finish college...)"
